Horton pulls Double Duty in Independence Shootout at Senoia Raceway
Racing in both the Super Late Model and 604 Late Model divisions, Austin Horton spent his Fourth of July weekend at Senoia Raceway (Senoia, Ga.) for the co-sanctioned Independence Shootout with the Hunt the Front Super Dirt Series and Ultimate Super Late Model Series.
With 39 Super Late Models in the pits, Horton was victorious in his heat race after hard-fought battle with Trey Mills. Rolling off from the pole of the $10,000-to-win main event, Austin battled up front until contact while racing for position with Joseph Joiner. After officials reviewed the incident, Austin was forced to restart at the tail of the field. He was scored 17th in the final rundown.
In 604 Late Model competition, Austin was sixth-quickest in qualifying and went on a sixth-to-second charge in the feature event to finish runner-up.
