Austin Horton scores runner-up finish with Southern All Stars at EAMS

Saturday saw Austin Horton to action with the two-day Alabama State Championships at East Alabama Motor Speedway (Phenix City, Ala.).

With a full program on tap for the Super Late Models and preliminary events for Crate Late Models, Horton secured his spot into the $4,000-to-win XR Southern All Star Series sanctioned feature with the second-fastest lap in his time trial group. Improving four spots in the 40-lap affair, Austin raced to a runner-up finish, which came behind Kenny Collins with JR Moseley rounding out the podium.

He followed up the fourth-quickest lap his Crate Late Model qualifying group on Saturday with a 10th-place finish in Sunday’s $5,000-to-win feature.

In his Super Late Model, Austin’s qualifying effort paced him on the second row for the Sunday's finale. With $4,000 on the line, Horton dropped three spots to finish seventh.
